Why This Retreat Exists

Your relationship to yourself shapes every relationship in your life.

When you are regulated, present, and open — connection flows.
When you are overwhelmed or defended — it contracts.

For four days, we step out of habitual patterns and into practices that help you:

  • respond instead of react

  • stay open in challenging moments

  • connect with compassion

  • experience genuine joy in community

  • relate to family and friends with more ease

This retreat prepares your nervous system and heart for the season ahead.

The holidays ask a lot of our relationships.

Two women lying on grass surrounded by flowers, covering their eyes with their hands.

Family dynamics.
Old patterns.
Emotional intensity.
Expectation.
Connection — and sometimes disconnection.

Most of us enter this season unprepared.

This retreat offers something different:

A space to ground yourself.
To practice presence.
To strengthen your capacity for connection.
To cultivate joy through service.

You leave not just rested — but resourced.

The Heart of Somavia Retreats: Service

What makes this retreat different from typical yoga retreats is simple:

Service is at the center.

We spend one afternoon engaged in meaningful service with the surrounding community — this year including environmental care and animal rescue support.

Service shifts perspective.
It softens the self.
It reminds us we belong to something larger.

Research and lived experience both show that altruistic action increases meaning, purpose, and joy. When we help others, we experience connection directly — not as an idea, but as reality.

The specific task may change.
The intention does not.

Service becomes the ground from which transformation grows.
